Celtic legend open to sensational return to club after manager axed

Neil Lennon

News surrounding the managerial position at Celtic is coming thick and fast for the lunchtime drinkers in the Transfer Tavern today.

The Scottish giants confirmed manager Ronny Deila will leave his role at the end of the season in the wake of their loss to Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Fans have been baying for blood for some time now after watching their side fail to qualify for the Champions League since the departure of Neil Lennon in 2014, despite all of their domestic domination.

Now, former Bhoys boss Lennon has revealed he IS open to the prospect of a return to Glasgow, where he was a hugely popular figure among the fans.

When asked if he would be open to a return, the former Northern Ireland star replied: ‘that’s the 54 million dollar question.’

‘I have never hidden my affinity with the club.’

‘Would I like to go back? If the opportunity arose to speak to the board, absolutely.’

Sacked by Bolton Wanderers earlier this season as he failed to stop the Trotters tumbling down the Championship, Lennon has been out of work since.
Celtic fans, would you be happy with seeing Lennon return? Or would you much prefer David Moyes?
