Celtic lynchpin remains out for Old Firm clash but key star will be assessed

Celtic fans here in the Tavern are feeling confident as they head into the Scottish Cup semi-final, having gone unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Indeed, the Hoops head into today’s Scottish Cup semi-final off the back of an impressive run of domestic results, as they’ll look to go eight matches unbeaten with victory over bitter rivals Rangers at Hampden Park. Although, it looks as if the Bhoys could be without some of their star players, as according to Sky Sports’ pre-match team news, Nir Bitton is still out, while Stuart Armstrong will be assessed and Jack Hendry is cup-tied.

Nir Bitton established himself as one of Celtic’s star players prior to suffering a knee injury, and it looks as if they’re going to be without him for their all-important Scottish Cup clash as he remains out.

However, Stuart Armstrong will be assessed due to a calf injury that has halted his progress throughout the current campaign, so supporters could see the Scotsman feature.

Lastly, Jack Hendry, unfortunately, won’t be able to feature for the Hoops later today after producing a rich vein of form in recent times, as he’s cup-tied after playing earlier on in the competition for Dundee.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Celtic will be hopeful that Stuart Armstrong can secure a place in the side to face Rangers, but Nir Bitton’s absence will be huge as they have struggled without him at times. Although, Brendan Rodgers will be sure to rally his troops for the huge semi-final clash, as anything less than a victory will be seen as a disaster by many of our local residents.
