The Celtic fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club are not giving up hope of signing a new winger this week.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Brendan Rodgers is confident he can land winger Scott Sinclair before Thursday’s European deadline for the next stage of Champions League qualifying stage.
The Aston Villa wide-man has been one of the Norther Irishman’s top targets since arriving at Parkhead, despite seeing three bids rejected for him.
Still, the former Liverpool coach reportedly remains confident the he will become a Celtic player in the coming days.
Speaking about his hopes of landing Sinclair and other targets, Rodgers said ‘Ideally, we would want to try to at least have one more in by the deadline, all being well. I want it now — but it doesn’t always work out that way.
‘Is it realistic? I would hope so. It won’t be the fault of this club if not.
‘The club are looking to do everything they can to support my needs and what I want.’
The 26-year old is no stranger to Rodgers and his philosophy and impressed enough during his time at Swansea to earn a big money move to Manchester City.
Since making that move his career appears to have stagnated somewhat and he will be hopeful that a reunion with Rodgers could revitalise his career.
Why is Rodgers do determined to sign Sinclair? Would he tear things up North of the Border?
