Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are still signing their songs after securing their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
The Hoops wrapped up the league in magnificent fashion with a 5-0 demolition job of rivals Rangers at Celtic Park. With a Scottish Cup final against Motherwell still to come, transfer plans can’t get underway just yet.
With Celtic number one, Craig Gordon, approaching the end of his career – a new goalkeeper should be high on Brendan Rodgers’ shopping list. With that in mind, former Hoops ‘keeper, Fraser Forster, could be the main to fill the void. He departed Celtic in 2014 for big money, where he instantly became the club’s number one.
Valued at £13.5m according to Transfermarkt, the Englishman is may want a way out of St. Mary’s following a season to forget in the Premier League and has been touted for an exit, according to the Scottish Sun. Despite his poor performances, a change of scenery could be just what Forster needs, and Celtic should jump at the chance to take him back.
The Saints could also face relegation from the Premier League meaning Forster would be available at a reasonable price, giving Rodgers funds to strengthen other areas of his squad. A return to the Scottish Premiership would allow the 30-year-old to rediscover his best form in a familiar environment, perhaps working his way back into the England set-up.
Celtic fans, would you like to see Fraser Forster back at the club? Let us know!
