After completing successive trebles, the mood will be extremely positive surrounding Celtic Park. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping this is the season his side finally show what they are made of in European competitions.
Celtic have truly established themselves as the dominant force in Scottish football. Following their unbeaten domestic season, they once again won the treble last season. With an incredibly strong spine, Celtic look set for yet another good season.
They may face stiffer competition domestically than they have in recent history. Cross-city rivals Rangers have employed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as boss, and he has made several signings for Rangers in attempt to get them back on par with the might of Celtic.
Celtic got off to a strong start, despatching Livingston 3-1 at Celtic Park. It was a typically dominant performance from the Hoops, which would have left most in agreement they would once again storm to the title.
Considering Celtic will expect themselves to go deep into cup competitions both domestically, and in Europe, they may well be feeling the need for reinforcements by the time January arrives.
The player Brendan Rodgers should already have his eye on is Rosenborg’s Nicklas Bendtner. The 30-year-old Bendtner is valued at £1.08m by Transfermarkt.
Nicklas Bendtner is a big, imposing 6ft 4 front man. He would add a new dynamic to the Celtic attack, and a new option, particularly in European matches. The veteran striker has experience playing at the highest level, and played over 100 matches for Premier League side Arsenal.
The Dane has been in great form for Norweigan top-flight side Rosenborg, netting 23 goals in all competitions last season. Bendtner would add fantastic depth and quality to the Celtic squad, and would score plenty of goals.
