Celtic supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating the 2018/19 Scottish Premiership season, what with their side seeking to continue their incredible domination of football north of the border.
Brendan Rodgers’ men eased to a seventh successive league title last term in finishing nine points clear of second place Aberdeen, losing just four matches over the course of the campaign. And with success in the Scottish League Cup and indeed the Scottish Cup, the Bhoys recorded back-to-back domestic trebles to further underline their superiority of football in Scotland, something they will seek to continue this time round when the 2018/19 season gets underway next month.
As such, there are many excited and indeed expectant Celtic fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom have been watching the World Cup intently to identify possible transfer targets for the summer window.
And one man they were hugely impressed with during the group stages was Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa, who has recently been linked with Premier League side Huddersfield Town, with several of our resident Bhoys fans calling for their side to make an audacious move for the £13.5 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt), in what could turn out to be a transfer masterstroke.
Ultimately, the Leicester City forward has endured a testing time at the King Power Stadium following his move from CSKA Moscow back in 2016, with the 25-year-old mustering just 33 senior appearances for the Foxes, managing only five goals in the process.
In fact, the Nigerian star was so far down Claude Puel’s pecking order last term that he was shipped out on loan to former employers CSKA in a bid to reignite his career, for whom he scored seven goals in just 16 appearances to further underline his qualities.

And given his efforts at the World Cup, in which he scored two fine goals in Nigeria’s 2-0 success over Iceland, it appears that Musa has re-discovered his best goal-scoring form and as such could be an asset to many clubs this term, not least Rodgers’ trophy-chasing Celtic.
Clearly, the Bhoys need to continue improving and adding genuine quality to their squad if they are to fend off the resurgent Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this season, while our resident Celtic fans are hopeful that they can start making inroads in European competition as well – Musa can help with both aspects.
And alongside the hugely talented forwards of Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, Rodgers’ men would have the firepower to again sweep aside all before them in Scotland, while Musa’s pedigree in netting seven times in European competition would surely boost their chances on the continent.
As such, while Huddersfield are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old, Celtic should seek to make an audacious move to lure the World Cup star to Parkhead this summer as, were he to translate his World Cup form, it could turn out to be a masterstroke.
