Celtic should seriously look at landing £6.75m-rated winger – agreed?

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern just want a real challenge in the Scottish top flight, with winning the title becoming way too easy for their liking.

Although they couldn’t do it unbeaten again, Celtic strolled towards the Scottish Premiership title without really having to put their foot down. They have good players already in their squad, and that has resulted in quite the spell of dominance.

However, they’re set to lose Patrick Roberts this summer when he returns to Man City at the end of his loan spell, and that’s something that the Celts cannot allow. Instead, they should land him on a permanent basis.

Roberts, who is rated at £6.7 million by Transfer Markt, has found life rather difficult in his second spell at Celtic Park however that is largely due to the injuries he has incurred. Still though in the 8 league matches he managed to play in, he bagged four assists, proving he still very much has the creative spark to cause havoc for the opposition.

At 21, Roberts is still a very well respected youth talent at Manchester City but with the English champions still looking unlikely to utilise Roberts within their team, why shouldn’t Celtic make a proposal to take him permanently?

After all with Steven Gerrard now in charge at Rangers, a lot in the Transfer Tavern are arguing that the Premiership could be a lot closer this year so Celtic need to cement the players they already have and then strengthen in positions that need improving. Patrick Roberts proved to be one of Celtic’s best players when joining on a loan deal last season and that form alone suggests that he will continue to improve should he stay with the Hoops permanently.

Thoughts Celtic fans, is it likely you can secure Patrick Roberts on a permanent basis?
