Attention is turned to Europe again for our Celtic fans in the Tavern following another dominant season in the Scottish Premier League and Brendan Rodgers must now assemble a squad capable of challenging in the Champions League.
Rodgers will know performances in Europe must improve and will set out his transfer plans in order to strengthen his playing squad.
If the former Liverpool manager is looking for a bargain, he should target Crystal Palace midfielder, Yohan Cabaye, who is valued at £9m by Transfermarkt but is out-of-contract this summer.
The French international is a Premier League veteran following a successful spell with Newcastle before deciding to join Crystal Palace. Indeed, the former PSG midfielder is believed to be locked in contract negotiations with his current employers, but Palace have struggled immensely this season.
The Eagles are not yet mathematically safe from relegation following a point against Watford but are in a strong position to remain in England top division.
Cabaye has spent three years at Selhurst Park and at 32-years-old, it could be time for a new challenge.
Certainly, Celtic would give the midfielder a chance to win some silverware and compete in Europe next season – something which Palace are unable to contend with. Furthermore, Cabaye would give Rodgers a midfield general capable of pulling strings from deep and allowing their attacking talent to flourish.
Alongside Scott Brown, the former Newcastle United star could form a midfield base capable of actually doing something in the Europa League. Available for free, he could be the perfect summer signing.
Celtic fans, would Yohan Cabaye be a good signing for the Hoops? Let us know
