Albert Kidd is a name a few Scottish football fans remember and he’s once again topical here in the Transfer Tavern after his update regarding Celtic’s interest in midfielder Riley McGee.
“Who?” cried one Glaswegian from over by the pool table. Well, the Adelaide United man is one of the hottest prospects in Australian football and has recently been called up to represent the Socceroos for the first time for their upcoming clashes with Iraq and UAE despite being only 18.
And Kidd – who works for McGee’s team’s rivals Adelaide Olympic as a technical director – has revealed that the Hoops are interested in the teenager, as told to him by Bhoys scout Tosh McKinlay:
“I’m in very close contact with my ex-team-mate Tosh McKinlay and we have talked about Riley McGree.” He told Triple M Radio (via the Scottish Sun).
“They are showing a lot of interest.”
McGee was called up to the Australian team following tom Rogic’s injury withdrawal.
The youngster progressed through Adelaide’s youth ranks and has made 13 A League appearances for them to date.
Celtic need to sign a marquee player this summer – agree?
