Our Celtic fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been in pretty jubilant mood all season though the Leigh Griffiths situation has been something that’s concerned them slightly.
The experienced forward had been a mainstay in the Bhoys’ side up until this season but Moussa Dembele’s arrival has certainly seen that dramatically reduced.
You can see why, too, with the French forward in superb form up until now and the Celtic Park outfit well on course for another league title.
Off the pitch, though, as The Glasgow Evening Times refers to, Brendan Rodgers has been critical recently of Griffiths in saying the striker needed to start looking after himself better off of the pitch publicly.
It’d be natural to think, then, that a rift between the two was set to occur but the former Hibernian forward has decided to ignore such talk and instead focus on playing for the side.
Speaking to Celtic TV and quoted by The Glasgow Evening Times, he said:
“Everybody has been talking about if there is a rift between me and the gaffer because of what he said but it is great to be back on the pitch, back among the boys and back in the matchday squad.”
He’s not exactly denying the rift, then, but his focus certainly seems to be on playing and that cannot be a bad thing.
