Celtic would launch a statement of intent by re-signing £6.3m-rated midfielder this summer

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful of again dominating the Scottish League and improving the gulf in class between them and hated rivals Rangers.

It’s been rather average season for Celtic, winning the league as per standard but also failing to get deep into the European competitions. If the Hoops want to progress next year, they need to spend some money once again in the transfer market.

Our punters are keen on the idea of trying to get Swansea’s Ki Sung-yueng back to the club after leaving Celtic Park some 6 years ago. With the 29-year-old valued at £6.30 million on Transfermarkt, Ki has proven to be a solid holding midfielder for Swansea once again and has been ever since his move to Wales.

With interest surrounding the South Korean from near and far, Celtic would have to be very persuasive if they managed to bring the midfielder back to Scotland. The 29-year-old has a lot of quality still to give any team, so if Celtic are truly serious about improving their luck next season, signing Ki would be a step in the right direction.

Having made 29 appearances so far, Swansea would certainly be losing an asset should the South Korean leave.

Landlords verdict:

Celtic are finding it easy to cruise to the title but the ultimate goal is to achieve something special in the European competitions. They have the passionate fan base capable of spurring the team onto victory, all that’s missing at the moment is the cutting edge to get this Celtic team competing properly against the biggest football teams.
