The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are lacking excitement after continuously winning the Scottish league without a fight, every single year. Their real goal is to achieve something spectacular in the European competitions but those wishes are yet to come true.
It’s been another successful campaign for Brendan Rodgers and co but after failing to make movements in the latter stages of the Europa League, Celtic will be sure to invest again in the transfer market so that new arrivals can mould a good season ahead. A player that is out of contract and would prove a real bargain if Celtic could beat off competition is Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur, who is valued at £5.40 million on Transfermarkt.
The 30-year-old midfield general has again been an important figure at Selhurst Park after playing in 31 games so far this season. Surprisingly as well, the Scotsman has been on the score-sheet 5 times, good figures for a player not commonly associated with scoring goals.
Since moving from Scottish side Hamilton in 2010, his career has been on an upwards trajectory, going from Wigan to Crystal Palace. His future in the Premier League is greeted with a big question mark considering his contract expires this summer, therefore Celtic should eye this as the perfect time to get their hands on a sturdy midfield player, capable of a wide range of passes and great defensive contributions as well.
With Celtic seemingly getting stronger every year, it’s time they once again bring in some inspired signings in a bid for more success in the future.
