Celtic are on course to qualify for the Champions League group stages for the fifth season in a row.
The Hoops defeated Rosenborg 3-1 in the first leg of their second qualifying round. A brace from Odsonne Eduoard and a second-half strike from Olivier Ntcham handed Brendan Rodgers a two-goal advantage ahead of the trip to Norway. The second leg takes place on August 1st.
Celtic have had a quiet transfer window thus far, signing Eduoard on a permanent and bringing Scott Bain on a free transfer. The Hoops have signed many players from Manchester City in recent years are could be set for another raid on the Citizens according to reports. The Daily Record reports that Celtic will make a move for Australian wonderkid – Daniel Arzani.
Valued at £1.35m by Transfermarkt, the playmaker is widely regarded as the most promising youngster emerging from Australia. The Melbourne City youngster is expected to follow in the footsteps of Aaron Mooy in joining Manchester City – who are part of the City Group which owns Melbourne. His exploits in the A-League earned him a place in Australia’s 2018 World Cup squad.
Arzani was named Australian Young Player of the Year after scoring two and assisting two for his side last year. Primarily a right winger, the youngster is also comfortable on the left or as a number 10. With excellent dribbling ability, he will no doubt be a success in the SPFL.
Rodgers is known for his ability to nurture youngsters and could be crucial to Arzani’s development. If his form continues, he could prove to be the most exciting player at Celtic Park.
