Celtic fans were delighted to see their side kick off their Champions League campaign with a victory.
The Hoops travelled to Armenia to face Alashkert in their first Champions League qualifier. Goals from Odsonne Eduoard, James Forrest and Callum McGregor handed them a comfortable 3-0 victory to take home to Scotland. Celtic are in line to receive a record amount of Champions League income if they manage to reach the group stages.
Should Brendan Rodgers navigate the qualifiers, he should look to sign a new striker this summer. With Rangers landing nine new players already, retaining the Scottish Premiership title will be even more difficult next year. To compete on multiple fronts, adding more goals will be vital.
Therefore, Rodgers should raid his former club Liverpool to sign striker – Danny Ings. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the Northern Irishman brought Ings to the club from Burnley back in 2015. Injuries have plagued his Anfield career and meant he slipped down the pecking order.
The Englishman is now set to leave the club in search of game time, and Celtic would be the perfect destination. Ings remains a deadly finisher and would score goals for fun in the SPFL. Still only 25-years-old, his best years are ahead of him.
He scored 43 goals in 130 appearances during his time with Burnley highlighting just how deadly he can be. A reunion with Rodgers makes perfect sense for everyone.
Celtic fans, thoughts?
