Everton reportedly ‘very interested’ in Celtic boss Rodgers amid ‘immense’ frustration

The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed a great week since seeing the club smashed by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, believe it or not. Indeed, the Bhoys in our bar have since watched their side make the League Cup final, Rangers not, Moussa Dembele score twice away at Aberdeen in an easy win and Pedro Caixinha sacked at Ibrox.

So, it’s fair to say the punters clad in green and white have had a lot to shout about since that night over in the Allianz Arena. Still, some worrying comments have emerged in the Daily Record podcast in regards to Brendan Rodgers’ future at the club.

Speaking about the vacant managerial vacancy at Everton, podcast member Ian McGarry has revealed (45:21) that the Hoops’ inability to challenge in the Champions League is an ‘immense’ frustration before then claiming (46:13) that the Toffees DO hold an interest in the idea of bringing the former Liverpool boss back to Merseyside.

‘I know that Everton are very interested in Brendan Rodgers’, he says at 46:13 in the pod.

Whether or not he’d be willing to leave Celtic – the club he supported as a boy – remains to be seen, though there is said to be interest from Goodison Park, with the Toffees recently having sacked Ronald Koeman.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Perhaps keeping Rodgers away from the Premier League might be an unrealistic notion for Celtic, though timing could be wrong here. If he was to leave Celtic in the lurch at the first time of asking, he could ruin the special bond he’s created with the green and white faithful since taking over.
