Celtic fans here at the Transfer Tavern are hardly surprised to see their side charging to the Scottish Premiership title once more again this season, however the Hoops were again disappointing in Europe, something the fans desperately hope will change.
The Celtic Park-based side are currently easing to domestic success but re-signing their ex-goalkeeper would allow them to push further on next season. Fraser Forster, valued at £13.50 million on Transfermarkt, is out of favour down at Southampton and if Celtic had the audacity to push again for his signature, this would allow Celtic to see a future keeper past the ageing Craig Gordon.
Forster, 29, had made 20 Premier League appearances before losing his place in the side to second-choice Alex McCarthy after a string of poor displays and mistakes.
Despite this, the Englishman still has undeniable quality between the sticks and if he came back to Celtic, this would be a strong statement ahead of next season that they want to get even better. Forster left the club in 2014 but there would still most certainly be a space for the big goalkeeper at the club, after all he performed so well for them in his years at Celtic.
Southampton are struggling badly in the Premier League and the threat of relegation is a real worry for their supporters. Celtic could take advantage of this if they find themselves in the Championship next year, with Fraser Forster likely to be available at a cheaper rate.
Indeed, perhaps a return to Scotland would help restore his confidence after a difficult few months on the south coast.
Our fans gathered around the bar would love to see Fraser Forster return to Celtic, so Hoops fans let us know, would this be a good move to get the towering goalkeeper back at the club?
