‘Not good enough for Scotland’, ‘Jokes at the ready’ – Celtic fans berate manager’s player decision

Though the Celtic fans here in the Transfer Tavern are disappointed by their Champions League exit last night, the punters propping up our bar are fairly proud of the way in which they battled against Bayern Munich.

Indeed, Celtic Park didn’t get to witness another major European scalp, though the green and white cause were impressed by some performances against the German giants, especially that of Callum McGregor. The 24-year-old notched the Bhoys’ leveller, before Die Rotten once again took the lead, and looked a real spark in midfield all evening.

Named in Malky Mackay’s first Scotland squad, his outing against Bayern has only furthered the sense of confusion as to why McGregor had to wait so long to earn Gordon Strachan’s trust. The former Tartan Army boss repeatedly left him out of his squads amid the botched World Cup qualifying campaign, much to the frustration of the Bhoys in our bar.

With that in mind, here’s a look at how they slated Strachan on social media after McGregor’s performance.
