Offer reportedly made for 25-year-old as transfer report emerges for Celtic fans

Last night’s draw with Rosenborg did little to excite the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern, who’d been hopeful of a resounding victory to take over to Norway.

It’s not been often that Brendan Rodgers’ side have disappointed the Bhoys in the bar, though last night’s sluggish showing left an awful lot to be desired. Indeed, as if that wasn’t annoying enough, reports from the Daily Record have concerned our resident Hoops.

They claim Turkish giants Besiktas are keen on a move for Celtic star Erik Sviatchenko as they look to bring a defender over to Istanbul in order to partner Pepe. The Danish international is understood to be a loan target for the Turkish giants, though the SPFL champions are believed to prefer a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old cost around £1.5m 18 months ago and Celtic are reportedly looking to recoup most of that if they are to agree to let him go.

A loan offer is believed to have been put to top brass at Parkhead, with Besiktas said to be hoping for a one-year loan and an option to buy next summer.

Landlord’s Verdict

With Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata forming such a strong partnership, perhaps Celtic could do with raising funds by selling a man on the periphery of the first-team. Still, the Hoops should keep a hold of him until they find a replacement, with options rather light on the ground at the moment.

A good player, but a disposal one.
