‘Official bid’ could be imminent as Celtic suffer transfer setback

With the Celtic fans here in the Transfer Tavern channelling all of their collective hopes on their crunch tie against Zenit in the Europa League next month, there’s a real hope that decision makers continue to back Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market.

Indeed, while the Bhoys in our bar are very proud of their record since he took over, few would doubt the importance of a run in Europe and what a difference that could make for the profile of their club right now. So, Rodgers needs some help when it comes to strengthening the squad.

However, reports from the Daily Star do little to excite our punter clad in green and white. They claim Premier League side Bournemouth are ready to muscle in on any Celtic move for Dundee defender, Jack Hendry. The Dens Park star is understood to be of interest to the Scottish champions, though a reported £1.5m asking price is believed to be holding up a move.

Not for Bournemouth, however. The report suggests the Cherries are willing to lodge an ‘official bid’ of £1m for Hendry this week, complicating matters for the Celtic fans propping up our bar.

Landlord’s Verdict:

It’ll be very hard to see Celtic entering a bidding war with a Premier League side. Unfortunately for them, even the Scottish champions would find it hard to battle the riches of those south of the border, which must be pretty frustrating for Rodgers.
