Following the record signing of Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic fans were ecstatic in the Transfer Tavern. However, the Scottish champions could be about to lose one of their own.
According to Italian publication, Radio Sei, Lazio could be lining up a £7 million offer for Belgium international, Dedryck Boyata.
After losing Stefan de Vrij to Inter Milan, Lazio are in the market for a replacement central defender to fill the Dutch defender’s shoes.
Although the former Manchester City man, managed 24 appearances in the Scottish Premiership last year, the defender has never been the most consistent of performers. Filling in for the injured Vincent Kompany in Belgium’s opening two World Cup wins, Boyata has never completely won over the fans at Parkhead due to his habit for making errors.
With 12 months left on his current contract, the reported £7 million fee seems a good price for the treble winner.
The 27-year-old defender admitted that he would only talk about his future after this summer’s tournament and therefore, a quick deal may not be on the cards.
Boyata said: “Right now, I am concentrating on the World Cup. I am not thinking about my future.”
“I still have a year on my contract and we will see after the summer if I continue with Celtic again.”
