Rodgers considers one of the most expensive transfer swoops in Celtic history

With the Celtic fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern in triumphant spirits, an interesting topic of debate has arisen amongst the Bhoys in the bar.

Where exactly do the Hoops go from here? The Hoops have swept all before them domestically and Brendan Rodgers’ next major task will undoubtedly be to see the club progress in the Champions League.

So, with the summer transfer window just around the corner, reports from the Daily Telegraph have proved rather interesting indeed.

They claim Rodgers is keen on a move for Sunderland striker Fabio Borini, who could reportedly leave the Stadium of Light for just £6m following their relegation.

The Italian, who played under the Northern Irishman at both Swansea and Liverpool, is versatile enough across the frontline and would surely plunder goals aplenty north of the border.

Such a fee would make the 26-year-old the joint-most expensive signing in the Hoops’ history, along with the £6m shelled out on both Chris Sutton and John Hartson.

While not the most exciting name in history, many of the local Celtic fans in our bar believe he’d be an astute addition.
