Celtic will be looking to continue to build upon their impressive campaign once again this season – however, fans in the Transfer Tavern could be getting ready to say goodbye to one of their star men.
And that’s because, according to a report in The Scottish Sun, Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he could lose Moussa Dembele this summer, but is not concerned as he feels he already has a replacement available for him.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive time since arriving at Celtic Park in 2016 – however, it is felt he could be on the move with a number of Europe’s top clubs rumoured to be interested in the marksman.
However, it is believed that should Dembele leave, Celtic will prepare to make Odsonne Edouard’s stay at Paradise permanent, as they hold a £8 million agreement with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old made himself a favourite with the locals in the bar when he netted twice against Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday, and Rodgers is prepared to make him theirs.
He told The Scottish Sun: ‘Moussa is a fantastic player and the reasons why he has come here have borne fruit. We wouldn’t want to lose him, but you have to think he’s a big talent and something may happen in the summer.
‘We try and have the next one lined up. Odsonne is a top talent. If you look at him, we brought him in for a reason.’
When asked about whether a deal could be struck between the two parties, Rodgers stated: ‘It’s up to the clubs. The club will meet with PSG and say where we can take it.’
And these comments are likely to intrigue our resident Celtic fans as, although they may be worried about losing Dembele, Edouard has certainly proven his credentials this term to suggest that he could be the ideal replacement for the Frenchman.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Celtic fans in the Tavern will be concerned that they could lose someone as talented as Dembele in the summer, but it’s not all bad news as a deal for Edouard could be in the offing.
And given how good he has been on loan this season, our resident Bhoys supporters will be excited with the prospect of keeping the 19-year-old at Celtic Park on a permanently.
