Having watched their club break a 50-year record set by the famous Lisbon Lions, the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been celebrating often and loudly for a while now.
Brendan Rodgers’ side look like an entirely different kettle of fish to the one who limped over the league line under Ronny Deila for two years, with the Hoops taking on a new lease of life this term it seems.
Indicative of their rebuild has been what’s happened to Kris Commons. A stalwart for many years at Parkhead, the 33-year-old seemingly has no future in green and white, having been loaned to Hibernian already this season.
So, the Bhoys in the bar are somewhat surprised to read reports from the Daily Record. They’ve revealed the former Scotland international is now ready to STAY at Celtic Park and see out the final six months of his deal in Glasgow. While the Hibees are understood to be keen to bring him back to Easter Road, they will reportedly be priced out of a loan move.
He is said to command a £20k-per-week wage, so any interest elsewhere in Scotland is unlikely to formalise itself in terms of an actual move, while Commons himself is understood to want to remain Britain despite interest from the MLS.
While the club are moving on without him, the Celtic fans in the Tavern hope to the high heavens he’s given a run of games to say goodbye.
Should Commons now get some game time? Let us know below…
