Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited about the transfer rumours coming out of The Sun about the possibility of a new goalkeeper joining the club, as they look to strengthen their side in a bid to improve in European football next season.
The Sun is reporting that the Bhoys are interested in bringing Manchester City keeper Angus Gunn to Celtic Park in the summer, as they look to find a replacement for Craig Gordon. The current number one has had a troubled year, having suffered a serious injury, which has seen Dorus De Vries take over.
The Scottish Premiership champions will have plenty of competition to try and land Gunn, who is currently performing well at Norwich City, as Stoke City and the Canaries are all rumoured to be interested in acquiring him. However, as you can imagine, our punters clad in green and white hope Brendan Rodgers can work his magic and bring him north of the border.
The goalkeeper’s performances have also caught the eyes at international level, with Scotland and England both set to battle each other to try and get the 22-year-old to join them, although he has already featured for the Three Lions at the Under-21 level.
The possibility of bringing Gunn to Parkhead will get Celtic fans in the Tavern excited about their prospects in European football, whilst the youngster still has a considerable amount of playing time on his side. Celtic should appear to be the favourites to sign the goalkeeper considering their size, however, the attraction of Premier League football could go against them.
If Rodgers gets his man, perhaps it could suggest he’s looking to stay in Scotland for the long haul.
