Celtic

Scotland Down But Not Out, Thanks To Celtic…

When we talk about football we talk about the beautiful game, although north of the border it has been far from beautiful with all Scottish clubs crashing out of Europe just as the kids head back to school.

There is consolation that Celtic have been given entry back into the Europa league through the back door as Swiss side Sion have been thrown out of the competition due to fielding ineligible players. Recently Scottish football has been knocked, battered and torn and it would be fair to say that our game is on its knees at the moment and Celtic now carry the hopes of our nation and raise our co-efficient.

Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Dundee United have all tried and failed miserably and now the Scottish national sides hopes of qualification hang by a thread and it all but looks certain that the Scots will not be at another major competition. Even in our darkest hour I still feel although results have gone against our clubs and country the Scottish game is still alive and well.

Rangers were very unlucky to crash out of Europe as they did everything on the night but score and a lot of heart must be took from this. with manager Ally McCoist also stating that if his team continue to show that kind of heart then he feels his side will be ok in the championship.

Celtic have now been given entry back into the competition and we all know that once they get going they can cause teams problems. Celtic Park might not be the cauldron it may been in the past but you can bet your bottom dollar not many teams will fancy going there to play in front of the 60,000 plus that makes teams fear trips to Glasgow.

Scotland showed plenty of heart against the Czechs and were unlucky not to claim the win. Scotland have a great base and some excellent quality coming through. With players like Adam, Fletcher, Brown, Berra, McGregor, Miller and Goodwillie there are plenty of other players and youngsters being brought through.

I feel if we are patient and continue to bring through our talent and stick with the current regime the results will start to come. I feel in this country we can be too quick to sack managers and if we stick with Craig Levein he will get us to the World cup in 2014 it wont be easy but we must believe we can make it.
