Signing relegation-threatened £16.2m-rated one-cap England man would be a hit for Celtic

It’s hard to hear yourself think in the Transfer Tavern as the Celtic fans are still singing following their memorable 5-0 thrashing of Rangers which saw them crowned champions.

The Hoops lifted their seventh consecutive Scottish league title following another superb season under Brendan Rodgers. Their performances in the league have been outstanding, but they struggled in Europe once again. The summer window is crucial for Rodgers to strengthen his squad. With Patrick Roberts set to return to Manchester City when his loan expires in the summer, a new winger could be high on his shopping list.

Over in England, Southampton are in grave danger of relegation thus a host of their star players could be set to depart in the summer should they enter the Championship – many names could be a hit in Scotland. One of them is Nathan Redmond.

The 24-year-old arrived at St. Marys from Norwich in 2016 for £12m but has failed to show what he is capable of. He has made 28 appearances in the Premier League this season, failing to score a goal. Redmond was praised by Pep Guardiola back in December who felt Southampton’s style hindered his ability to perform.

Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, Celtic could be the perfect place to rediscover his form. Rodgers has shown at his previous clubs he can bring the best out of young players and Redmond would thrive in the Scottish Premiership. The Englishman can play on either wing which would make him a valuable asset to the Northern Irishman, as well as capture the imagination of the Parkhead faithful.

Southampton would be unable to stop him from leaving if they don’t avoid the drop and Celtic should be first in line for his signature.

Celtic fans, would Nathan Redmond be a hit in the SPL? Let us know!
