Summer merry-go-round at Chelsea with Celtic deal potentially involved

Chelsea and Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are having to be separated by the landlord, with both sets of punters arguing over the future of Craig Gordon.

Better famed in England for a troubled spell at Sunderland, a move to Parkhead in 2014, after spending two years without a club due to injury problems, has revived the Scottish goalkeeper’s career.

Indeed, he’s gone on to make 140 appearances for the Bhoys, and is now on course to claim a third consecutive Scottish Premiership title as their No.1.

Blues glovesman Asmir Begovic was heavily linked with a move to Bournemouth in January and Gordon was lined up as his replacement, but neither deals came into fruition before the winter deadline.

However, the Begovic-to-Bournemouth rumours have re-emerged, courtesy of Mirror Football, and perhaps as a consequence, London Evening Standard now claim Chelsea will launch another bid for Gordon if the Bosnian international joins the Cherries this summer.

It’s further alleged that Chelsea saw two bids rejected in January, with Rodgers keen to tie down the 34-year-old to a new contract – his current terms are due to expire at the end of next season.

However, talks have since stalled and it’s believed Gordon is interested in joining the west London club.
