Celtic’s interest in Scott McKenna has ended

Celtic’s search for a centre-back looks to be continuing as it appears that they will fail to land their main target this summer.

According to a report by The Daily Record, Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Scott McKenna will not be joining up with the Bhoys.

It is understood that the Hoops had an offer rejected by Aberdeen for their defender and it is now thought that the Pittodrie outfit have told the Scottish Premiership champions that the player is not available for sale.

“He is a young player that I like,” Rodgers told The Daily Record.

“But the clubs have spoken about Scott and it was made clear Scott won’t be for sale, and won’t be available in this window. So what would end that.”

Celtic are in desperate need to add a centre-back to their ranks this summer, however, it does not appear that McKenna will be arriving at Celtic Park any time soon.

The Verdict:

Celtic will be disappointed with their efforts in the transfer window this summer as it looks as though they will miss out on another target.

The Hoops are in need of reinforcements at the back, especially with Dedryck Boyata’s future remaining unclear and just a lack of cover in the squad.

However, with just over a week until the transfer window shuts, Rodgers will need to act quickly to find himself an enforcer that can provide suitable competition.
