Celtic fans here in the Tavern are focused on their side securing another treble next season, but they could face strong competition from bitter rivals Rangers.
The Hoops were dominant throughout the last campaign as they managed to secure the treble with ease, but they did struggle in Europe.
There’s no doubt that Celtic already have an incredibly strong squad but they will need to strengthen this summer, with Steven Gerrard looking to defy expectations during his first season at Ibrox.
Celtic have made a rather slow start to the month of June which will need to change sometime soon, as they run the risk of missing out on success in the next campaign.
So, June could turn out to be a nightmare month if these TWO things happen…
Rangers secure Celtic targets
Brendan Rodgers will be looking to add to his squad this summer in preparation for next season.
Many of our local residents believe that losing a potential signing to Rangers would give them the upper-hand heading into next season.
So, the month of June could turn into an absolute nightmare for Rangers if they lose out on the transfer front, as they won’t want to make life easy for Steven Gerrard.
Contract talks break down
Interestingly, Celtic were reportedly in talks with central defender Dedryck Boyata over a new deal as his contract is set to run out at the end of next season.
However, the Belgian will be jetting off to the World Cup very soon, so the Hoops may have to wait until he gets back if they can’t agree prior to the competition.
Therefore, the defender could receive interest if he puts a fine performance in during the World Cup, which could make him reconsider his future.
