The Rangers fans in the transfer tavern have been reacting to a story in Record Sport that Alex Neil is one of the two frontrunners to be appointed as Rangers boss in the summer. Neil is currently plying his trade at Preston North-End and has been in charge at Deepdale since summer last year. Now though, alongside Frank De Boer, he’s been touted as the next to charge at Ibrox.

The Glasgow club have been looking for a new manager since they sacked Pedro Caixinha last October. The club’s hierarchy placed Graeme Murty as interim manager before giving him a contract until the end of the season in December. Now though, the fans can’t wait to see the back of Murty after the club were thoroughly humiliated at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final, losing 4-0 and finishing with ten men
The aftermath of the game has brought yet more embarrassment to the club as Murty took action to suspend both club-captain Lee Wallace and the club’s most experienced player Kenny Miller after the duo furiously confronted Murty for his awful management of the Old Firm. The club now has just five Scottish Premier League games left and will have to endure another game against Celtic, this time at Parkhead as opposed to Hampden Park. The fans will be hoping they can finish the season with a bit of dignity before bringing in the right manager to steady the shape and change their fortunes.
