Club chief reveals the real motivation behind impending Rangers exit

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have not been enjoying the best of times for their club in recent weeks, with a public bust-up one of a few issues the team has faced.

The Gers were embarrassed by Old Firm rivals Celtic 4-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the weekend, which saw Alfredo Morelos and Greg Docherty have a spat with each other on the pitch, whilst tempers continued to flare in the dressing room.

Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace have been suspended by the club following allegations that they had a few choice words for Graeme Murty, whilst David Bates has decided to leave Ibrox at the end of the season when his deal expires.

The young defender has agreed to join Hamburg in the Bundesliga, and Hamburg recruitment Chief johannes Spors has insisted that the move was not motivated by money.

According to the Daily Mail, Spors said: “I know that David had a chance to earn far more money somewhere else. I know that for a fact.”

Instead, the motivation behind the move appears to be the opportunity it offers: “But this is a good chance for him to come to Hamburg and a new country and he has shown me he can handle the situation we have in Hamburg every week”.

It’s certainly a bold move to swap Scotland for Germany, and it will be very interesting to see how he adjusts. Rangers are certainly losing a fantastic player, that’s for sure.

Landlord’s Verdict

Rangers fans in the Tavern will be disappointed with the current situation at their club and the locals will be demanding their side get things sorted out as quickly as possible.

The decision of Bates to leave will have been hurtful, although punters will now look ahead and hope the Gers can bring someone in to replace him in the summer.
