Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased to hear that one of their stars has pledged his future to the club amid interest from abroad.
Nir Bitton is attracting interest from Maccabi Haifa, however, the Israel international has told them that they would be wasting their time on him as he has no intention of leaving Celtic Park. The Scottish Sun claims that the 26-year-old is top of the wishlist but the defender revealed he does not want to return to his homeland at the moment.
“I am not going back to Israel, it’s not on my agenda,” he said (with quotes sourced via the Scottish Sun).
“I am currently injured and I am under contract with Celtic until 2020. I am not interested in a transfer.”
The defender is currently out with a knee injury that had required surgery in February and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, in which Celtic are looking to secure back-to-back domestic trebles. A popular figure amongst our punters clad in green and white, they’re fairly happy to hear the news.
The locals in the Tavern will be delighted to hear that Bitton was quick to dismiss any possibility of a move away from Celtic Park and is committed to the Bhoys. When the defender has been used in the side, he has performed to a solid standard and had become a key member of Brendan Rodgers’ team. The punters will be hoping he can return from his injury quickly and will be quick to welcome him back next season.
