Rangers went through a period of extreme change in the summer with plenty of incomings and outgoings.
The Light Blues appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager in what would have been deemed a risky move, considering he had no prior managerial experience at a senior level.
The Liverpool legend was active from day one and brought in no less than 15 players to try and turn things around at Ibrox and has enjoyed some success in the short time he has been in Glasgow.
And, Dave King has revealed that he is delighted with how things are currently going under Gerrard’s management.
“I would say we are ahead of the game in the sense that having made the investment and looked at the players we are bringing in; I think he brought in 15 players if I remember correctly and I think it is fair to say only one of the 15 probably hasn’t worked out, so that is a great return in terms of the identification of the right quality of player,” he said.
“I think the proof is on the park, and certainly at the beginning of the season, if you had offered me after four very, very tough qualifying rounds looking ahead to that and saying we would be in the Group Stages and playing Villarreal in a big game at home and have a chance to go through, I would absolutely have taken that.
“So we are ahead of where my realistic expectations would have been.”
There is no denying that Gerrard appears to have started life at Rangers in a great way and seems to have lifted a dark cloud from above the club after a disastrous few years.
The Light Blues have a really good chance of qualifying for the next stage of the Europa League, with many not believing that could be possible when the groups were originally announced.
Gerrard has also got the Gers playing some great football and has seen his side produce some big results at times throughout the campaign, however, he will want to see his side lift silverware at some point in the near future.
