Dedryck Boyata plans to walk out next summer

Celtic will be desperate to improve on yesterday’s defeat as they lost 1-0 away at Hearts in a disappointing manner.

The Hoops missed the opportunity to extend their lead over Rangers, who take on St Mirren later on today. And, to make matters worse, it looks as if Brendan Rodgers could lose one of his star men in the future and will have to go on without him for the time being, as according to the Scottish Sun, Dedryck Boyata has effectively refused to play for Celtic and his agent warned that he fully intends to run down his contract.

Dedryck Boyata has effectively refused to play for Celtic amid an amazing transfer row.

The Belgian is demanding to be sold, with agent Jacques Liechtenstein warning he won’t put his career at risk by playing.

Interestingly, the central defender, subject of a failed £9 million bid from Fulham, is raging the Scottish club are refusing to sell him in this window.

He is refusing to discuss a new deal and declared himself injured at Lennoxtown on Friday.

And, his agent has since warned Celtic that the defender fully intends to run down his contract and walk out for nothing next summer.

THE VERDICT:

So, it looks as if Celtic are fighting a losing battle as Dedryck Boyata continues to look for an exit route out of Parkhead. And, his agent’s threat of running down his contract may just help him force a move through this summer, as the Hoops won’t want to risk losing him on a free next summer.

The Belgian was very impressive at the World Cup, which has sparked interest from a number of clubs, so it comes as no surprise that he wants a big move.
