Derby County were dominant against Rotherham United on Saturday as they secured a crushing 6-1 victory, which has kept their play-off hopes alive at Pride Park.
The Rams haven’t always been able to ensure consistency in the current campaign and the teams around them are constantly picking up points, so Frank Lampard’s side must keep the pressure on.
What’s the news?
According to Football Insider, Derby County are leading the race to sign Graeme Shinnie.
Shinnie’s contract is set to expire at Aberdeen at the end of the season and he’s attracted interest from the likes of Rangers, Sheffield United and Bristol City.
He’s a very versatile player who can operate at left-back or in the middle of midfield, so he could be a valuable player for Lampard to have in his side next season.
The Aberdeen man, who is valued at £765k (by Transfermarkt), can provide a wealth of experience at Pride Park which could prove crucial in a squad that’s hosted a lot of young players in the current campaign. And, most importantly, he has the ability and the leadership qualities to take Derby to the next level, with his versatility making him even more valuable as a player.
Of course, with Ashley Cole getting on with age and Scott Malone sometimes looking shaky in the defensive third, it makes perfect sense to bring in another left-back.
Derby County fans, do you think Shinnie is good enough for the Championship?
