Steven Gerrard has been active in bringing in a number of players to reshape his Rangers squad this winter.
The likes of Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe have already teamed up with the Light Blues in Tenerife for their warm-weather training camp, whilst Glen Kamara and Jordon Jones are set to arrive in the summer.
However, it appears Gerrard has also been working hard to clean the club’s books and has finally managed to offload one of their men permanently.
The 30-year-old was originally brought to Ibrox by Pedro Caixinha for a fee of £1.53million (per Transfermarkt) in the summer of 2017, however, he failed to make a real impact for the Light Blues.
Herrera, who spent the first part of the season on loan with Santos Laguna, will now spend the remainder of the campaign with Necaxa.
Rangers will be delighted to have managed to offload Herrera from their books.
Despite it being just a loan deal, the 30-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and is unlikely to make a return to Scotland.
With two-thirds of the January window still open, Gerrard and Rangers could still have plenty more business that they would like to achieve over the month.
