‘Enough already’ – Rangers fans on Twitter not convinced by Murty’s rallying cry

The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too keen on Graeme Murty. The stand-in gaffer, who could be replaced in summer after being given the job temporarily after the sacking of Pedro Caixinha, has faced fan protests for his sacking for a number of weeks now. The 43-year-old sealed his fate in the eyes of many of our drinkers when his side fell to a 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final to Celtic without so much as a whimper in reply. You can read Murty’s comments on the Rangers website.

Murty’s side bounced back from their humiliation against Celtic with a 2-1 win over Hearts on Sunday at Ibrox. Whilst winning games is always the best remedy for an under-fire manager, Murty confirmed he won’t be getting the Gers top job the week before. The fans have been discussing who their next gaffer will be for the last few months and whilst it’s always an exciting prospect when a club brings in a new manager, it can also be nerve-wracking if the club gets the wrong man.

Whilst the danger of getting the wrong man in is a very real one, as proven by the now ex-Rangers boss Caixinha, the Bluenoses will be feeling like anyone is better than Graeme Murty. After losing 4-0 to Celtic, the inexperienced tactician suspended two of the club’s most experienced players in Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace for a furious row they had with him over his awful management of the Cup semi-final. From that point on, the Rangers fans propping our bar up have been eagerly awaiting the appointment of their next coach.
