Fabio Cardoso left out of Rangers’ squad for Europa League

Rangers have been active in the transfer window this summer as Steven Gerrard prepares for life as the Light Blues boss.

The newly-appointed manager has already made a number of signings this summer and is preparing for his first competitive match in charge when they face FK Shkupi on Thursday night.

The Gers will meet the Macedonian’s in their Europa League qualifier and Gerrard has had to name the squad he will use for the clash, which has left for some interesting reading.

A report by the Daily Record has revealed the players that have been named for the first-leg tie, which showed that Fabio Cardoso had been left out of the list.

The defender is expected to be one of a number of players to be offloaded this summer, however, the likes of Bruno Alves have also been included, despite it being claimed that he is on his way back to Italy.

To make matters worse for Cardoso, it has been revealed that Graham Dorrans will wear the number 4 shirt for the upcoming season, the same number the Portuguese defender wore last season.

The Verdict:

Cardoso’s future at Ibrox appears to be very bleak under Gerrard and it has been claimed he will be one of the faces to be offloaded as soon as possible.

The 24-year-old failed to live up to a lot of the expectation placed upon him last season and it appears he did not do enough to convince the new manager in keeping him for the upcoming campaign.
