The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been getting excited as Jonny Hayes returned to first-team action after fracturing his tibia last season. His last appearance for the club in a competitive competition was on boxing day last year and it’s great to have him back as far as the Hoops are concerned.

The fans will all be delighted for Hayes as he got back out on the pitch after such a nasty injury ended his season at Christmas last time out. The Bhoys will be hoping he can have better luck this time around as the new domestic season gets closer and closer. In his shortened season last time out, Hayes bagged one goal and two assist in his 20 appearances and this season he will be hoping to have more of an impact.
A big one for the 30-year-old last time out was the Champions League. The versatile wide man failed to make a single appearance in the Champions League group stages despite featuring in four of the Glaswegian’s six qualifying games to get to the group stages. If the winger can stay fit and get some form behind him then there’s no reason why he can’t star for the Hoops in Scotland and in Europe this season.
Our local Bhoys’ opinions on Hayes are below:
He’s bringing the Champions league back. Footballs coming home.
