Rangers supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership courtesy of a 2-0 success over Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.
Graeme Murty’s men went into their clash at Firhill Stadium off the back of their first defeat of 2018 at the hands of Hibernian a few days previous, a result which saw them fall six points behind Aberdeen in the race for second place. Yet the Gers closed the gap back down to three points on Tuesday as goals from Josh Windass and James Tavernier sealed a routine victory for the Scottish giants, setting them up perfectly for their trip to Ayr United in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
Consequently, there have been many upbeat Light Blues fans in the Tavern in recent times, although they are unlikely to be overly thrilled by a recent report from Fotospor, which suggests that Fenerbahce have joined the race for in-demand ace Alfredo Morelos.
The 21-year-old only made the move to Ibrox during the summer but has hit the ground running with 13 goals in just 29 appearances for the club, 11 of which coming in their run to third place in the Scottish Premiership table.
And the Colombian star unsurprisingly attracted interest during the January transfer window, with Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe reportedly launching an unsuccessful £8 million bid, and recent reports are likely to be unwelcome as well as they suggest that Fenerbache are also eyeing up a move for Morelos.
Thus, the Gers could face a huge battle retaining the 21-year-old’s services, both during the remainder of the Chinese transfer window this month, and indeed in the summer.
Landlord’s verdict: Alfredo Morelos has certainly proven his worth to Rangers this season following his summer move to Ibrox, netting 13 goals in just 29 games for the Gers to help them to third place in the Scottish Premiership.
As such, the 21-year-old attracted interest from Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Renhe during the January window, in which they launched an £8 million bid which was subsequently rejected by the Gers.
However, there appears to be another club in the race for Morelos, as recent reports suggest that Fenerbahce are interested in the forward, leaving Rangers boss Graeme Murty facing a fight to keep hold of the influential ace both this month and possibly in the summer.
