Rangers have been extremely busy this summer with their recruitment drive, however, it does not appear as though the club are quite finished.
Steven Gerrard will be preparing his side for their encounter with FK Shkupi in the Europa League as he takes control of his first competitive match of the Light Blues.
The former Liverpool star will be looking to see how his new signings all work together, whilst also hoping his side is not embarrassed once again in the competition, following last year’s horror show.
However, it appears that the new manager is not quite content with the squad he has built just yet, as he revealed to The Scotsman that he still needs a few more additions.
Gerrard has stated that he needs a centre-back, as well as a couple of other pieces to his jigsaw to ensure the club is where he wants it to be, with Millwall’s Jake Cooper being strongly linked with a move to Ibrox.
“I’ve nothing to say on Jake Cooper or any other player who belongs to another club,” he told The Scotsman.
“I won’t add to speculation at all. But I need another centre-back.
“It’s difficult to put a number on how many more players we will sign in this window. We are very close to completing what we want but we are not complete just yet. There’s just a few more pieces missing, maybe.”
Despite having made nine signings already this summer, it appears Gerrard is keen to still add a couple more to his squad in order to become a competitive force.
The statement of needing another centre-back following the arrivals of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic shows a real intent of where the manager feels his team needs strengthening more than anywhere else and it will remain to be seen if he can get another body in through the door at Ibrox.
