Rangers will be pushing on with their transfer business this summer, however, fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned with news that one of their targets may not be after all.
Steven Gerrard has been proactive since being named as the new Ibrox chief, having made a number of recruits already, but has not slowed down his quest to make his new side challenges for the Scottish Premiership title.
However, one man that has been rumoured with a move to join the former Liverpool star at the club strongly, now appears that it may not happen after all. The Daily Express are claiming the Gers are not interested in bringing Martin Skrtel from Fenerbahce to Glasgow, despite earlier reports suggesting a fee of around £2.7million had been agreed.
It has been stated that Gerrard is not interested in bringing his former team-mate to Ibrox and is looking elsewhere for defensive recruits.
The news surrounding Skrtel and Rangers will be confusing all the locals in the Tavern, with a deal thought to be nearing completion, before the latest news appearing to knock that idea out of the park.
The 33-year-old would be considered a good signing for the Scottish side as he has the experience and knowledge to pass down to the academy players, whilst a fee of £2.7M would not have been too much to swallow.
Centre-back is a position that needs immediate attention for the Light Blues, if they are to compete with the likes of Old Firm rivals Celtic, however, it seems Skrtel is not the man to fill that void.
