If Rangers are to challenge for domestic honours, Steven Gerrard will need to make changes to his squad once again in the summer.
He has been rather successive when it comes to player recruitment and it appears he could be about to try and get a helping hand in the transfer market once again when it reopens in a couple of months.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Football Insider, Gerrard is planning to use his contacts at Liverpool to help him try and seal a triple swoop this summer.
Ryan Kent, Curtis Jones and Ben Woodburn are all thought to be on the Rangers manager’s wish list as he wants to bring some young attacking quality to his midfield.
However, the report also states that he knows that it might not be realistic at this stage, although Liverpool could be tempted to allow them to get the first-team exposure they need to develop further.
There is no doubt that all three youngsters have plenty of quality and could certainly bring something exciting to Ibrox if Gerrard was able to convince Liverpool to let a temporary deal.
Everybody already knows how well Kent has been doing up in Glasgow and it is no real surprise to hear that Rangers would like to bring him back to the club next season. The winger has been a standout for the Light Blues throughout the campaign and has quickly earned himself a glowing reputation with the Bluenoses’ faithful.
However, when it comes down to Curtis Jones and Ben Woodburn, what would Rangers be getting? Well, two quality attacking midfielders that have an eye for goal and can put together some really attractive passes.
Jones could be the perfect man to bring some additional creativity to the squad and freshen things up whilst Woodburn, who is a Wales international, could finally provide Rangers with the quality that they need on the left-hand side.
Gerrard’s connections with Liverpool appeared to help him last summer with his recruitment, but whether he will be able to replicate that success this time around remains to be seen.
