Gerrard set to offload £1.5M flop as Rangers rebuild continues

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with what Steven Gerrard has already managed to achieve at the club since he arrived.

The former Liverpool star was appointed the manager in May, before taking over official duties earlier this month, and has been working hard behind the scenes to improve his squad.

Gerrard has been extremely active in the transfer window, having signed seven players already to help with his rebuilding process, but he could be set to lose one of his men in the coming days if reports are to be followed.

The Scottish Sun are claiming that Eduardo Herrera is set to end his nightmare stay at Ibrox and join Mexican outfit Toluca. The 29-year-old flopped during his year with the Light Blues following his £1.5million arrival last summer and did not head to Spain with the club for their pre-season training camp.

Landlord’s Verdict

The possible departure of Herrera will not have come as a surprise to any of the locals in the Tavern, especially as he did not travel to Spain with the squad, showing that Gerrard did not have him involved in his plans.

Whether Rangers are to receive a fee for a transfer for him or not, it should prove to be smart business for the Light Blues as they will be able to offload some deadwood from the wage bill.
