Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with the early moves in the summer transfer business, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
Steven Gerrard has wasted no time in revamping his squad since taking charge of the club. Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor both arrived on free transfers while Jamie Murphy’s loan deal from Brighton was made permanent. Indeed, as you can imagine, the Gers have been linked with many Liverpool players due to Gerrard’s connection with the club.
The ex-England captain should use his relationship with Aston Villa defender, John Terry, to lure him to Scotland. The 37-year-old joined the Villains on a one-year deal after leaving Chelsea but failed to guide them back into Premier League after Fulham defeated them in the playoff final. He will now depart the club and Rangers should take advantage right away.
Valued at £900k by Transfermarkt, while his wage demands will be high, he could prove to be an astute piece of business. Gerrard will have teething problems, and Terry’s experience in the dressing room will make his transition into management a lot smoother. His pace has dropped, but he is excellent at reading the game.
He is not a long-term option, but Rangers would be foolish to turn down his services.
