Rangers currently find themselves trailing Celtic and Kilmarnock in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, after losing to the latter last time out.
The Bluenoses can’t afford any more slip-ups if they are to stand any chance of securing the title in the current campaign, with Celtic looking dominant at this moment in time.
Interestingly, Steven Gerrard has already secured the services of Jermain Defoe, Steven Davis and Andy Firth this month, along with a couple of pre-contract agreements, so he has done rather well.
Although, their midweek result against Kilmarnock has raised a few alarm bells, with the need to strengthen even more before the January transfer window shuts.
Therefore, Gerrard must sign these TWO stars to keep Rangers’ title dreams alive…
Jake Cooper has developed into one of the best central defenders in the English Championship this season at current club Millwall. He has been as a solid as a rock at the back and dominant in the air, but the surprising part of his game has been his ability to produce goals and assists, with three and six to his name respectively.
The Bluenoses already have a number of central defenders at their disposal, but Cooper’s ability to ensure defensive solidity and provide valuable contributions would see him slot right into Gerrard’s side.
Nick Powell has been arguably the standout performer for English Championship side Wigan Athletic over the past couple of seasons, and he has four goals and five assists to his name in the current campaign.
Gerrard will use Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos at the pinnacle of the attack at times during the second half of the season, so securing the services of an attacking midfielder could prove crucial. Ryan Kent was asked to operate in behind the pair last time out, but he lacks the ability to pick the final pass and he isn’t a natural goal threat.
Powell has the ability to provide and score goals on a regular basis, as well as tracking back and helping out in the defensive third, so he would be an incredible signing for the Bluenoses.
