‘Good man’, ‘Start him on Saturday’ – Celtic fans react to recent club news

Celtic supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern during the international break after seeing their side break a 100-year record by beating St Johnstone 4-0 last time out to make it 63 matches unbeaten in Scottish football.

Brendan Rodgers’ men swept aside everything that came before them last season by winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, and Scottish League Cup crowns, and they’ve made their intentions clear once again this term by opening up a three-point lead at the top of the league, and indeed reaching the latter’s showpiece at the end of this month. And the Bhoys made history last time out as a 4-0 success at St Johnstone saw Rodgers’ men go 63 games unbeaten in domestic competition, thus beating the previous record set by the club back in 1915 to 1917.

Subsequently, our resident Celtic fans have been in high spirits during the two-week break for internationals, and many are looking forward to the return of league action this weekend when Rodgers’ side travel to Ross County in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Yet there has been plenty for those Bhoys supporters lining up at the bar to get their teeth into recently, not least news that goalkeeper Dorus de Vries has penned a new deal to remain at Parkhead until the end of next season.

The 36-year-old made the move north of the border back in 2016 and has since gone on to appear six times for the first team at Celtic Park, only one of which has come this season.

Yet he has officially extended his time at the Scottish giants, which is news that was met with satisfaction by many Bhoys fans on Twitter…
