Graeme Murty opens up on Rangers’ sour episode

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed with the latest situation at the club following their defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic at the weekend.

The Gers were beaten 4-0 by the Hoops in the Scottish Cup semi-final and saw tempers flare between their players towards the end of the game. Alfredo Morelos and Greg Docherty were seen to have words with each other at the final whistle, whilst Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace have since been suspended by the club following an alleged confrontation with Graeme Murty in the dressing room.

Andy Halliday saw his match at Hampden Park reduced to just 40 minutes as he was substituted in the first half and prompted him to react towards his manager in a fiery fashion, which his manager has since told of his regrets about the decision, according to a report in the Herald.

“On a personal level, no-one likes to come off at that time and the impact of that has been hard. I regret that as a human being. But in terms of a professional level I had to make a decision to alter the shape of the game,” he told the Herald.

“Andy was the unfortunate guy. It’s horrible. It happens. It’s football.

“He didn’t vent it at me as he came off. I didn’t know about it until afterwards. I’ve no idea who it was aimed at.”

Landlord’s Verdict

Rangers fans in the Tavern will want the conflicts between club members to be resolved as soon as possible as they continue to try and finish the campaign as strong as possible.
