Greg Docherty to be sent out on loan this summer

Rangers will be looking forward to the upcoming Scottish Premiership season, however, Steven Gerrard is still working hard to make sure his squad is as talented as possible.

The former Liverpool star has been extremely active in the transfer window this summer making his team as strong as possible and in a position to challenge for silverware.

Gerrard has also been busy trimming all the dead weight from his Ibrox outfit as well, and it appears that one more player could be about to leave the Light Blues.

The Daily Record are claiming that Greg Docherty’s future at Rangers is in doubt as he has been told that he is not in the new manager’s plans for the upcoming season.

The 21-year-old has been told that he will be heading out on loan within the next few weeks, with a number of clubs rumoured to be interested in securing his services.

However, it is thought that the midfielder could still have a future at Ibrox in the long-term, with Gerrard believing he would be better off continuing his development elsewhere.

The Verdict:

Having only joined the club in January for a fee in the region of £600,000 from Hamilton Academical, Docherty will have been hoping that he would have been in Gerrard’s immediate plans.

The midfielder should look to use the opportunity to further his game and make sure that he impresses during a loan spell as he will look to try and get into the first-team when he is back in Glasgow.

It is understood that England’s League One is a likely destination and with the style of football played in the third-tier, it should be able to help him turn into a better player and ready for the Scottish Premiership once he returns to Rangers.
