Greg Docherty’s performances on-loan are giving Rangers fans a reason to smile

Greg Docherty is one of a number of players who was sent out on-loan by Steven Gerrard over the summer. The 22-year-old centre-midfielder will be looking to be in the Rangers starting eleven this time next year and he’s going the right way about it. He scored against Southend in a 2-0 for Shrewsbury on Saturday and was included in the EFL’s team of the week.

Docherty’s goal in the 5th minute against Southend was his second of the season after scoring against Portsmouth off the bench in a 1-1 draw. The midfielder will be loving life in League One and he’ll be desperate to continue his good form throughout the season as Shrewsbury will be aiming to achieve what they did last season and make the playoffs, although with their slow start to the campaign that looks unlikely.

Docherty will just have to get his head down and perform. His goals in the last two games will keep him in the side for the next few fixtures but it’s important that he doesn’t rest on his laurels and keeps his game to the highest possible level. The Gers will be keeping a keen eye on him as he bosses the third tier of English football and the sooner he can make his way back to Ibrox and get out on the pitch next season the better.

The fans are delighted with Docherty’s displays on-loan and will be keen to see him continue to impress as the season draws on.
